SKY Family and Child Development Centre

SKY Family and Child Development Center provides service for children with special needs and their families.

In 2001, the Salvation Army first set up the "Family Support Service for Persons with Autism" to provide "Home-based" and School Support Services.  Since 2005, "Flying High" Child Development was also established to provide services for children with special needs in formal education system.  From July 2013, these 2 centres were merged to form a self-self-fianced centre provides services to meet the needs of the Children with a new special education need (SEN), their families, and different societal systems.

Service philosophy

SKY (Special Key for You) - We believe that every child has their own strengthens and each family contains valuable resources and energy.

Our service team will work with children and family members to find their own unique "key", open the door to the hope that the child's characteristics and expertise to be excavated and can be appreciated, the family's internal strength to make good use and play; Family members can work together to meet the challenges of life, so that the family function can be played to promote their families, schools and communities to enjoy the ideal quality of life more effectively.

Services

  • Provide appropriate interventions and supports to children and adolescents with special needs

  • Equip parents/ caregivers to master the knowledge and skills of training children, enhance their confidence and lessen their caring pressure

  • Consolidate and maintain the function of the family, so that family members enjoy their ideal family and community life

  • To help families build a community support network, to promote the spirit of mutual assistance and love

  • Support related systems of the children

  • Children and adolescents with special needs and their families

  • Autism spectrum disorders (ASD)

  • Special learning disability (SpLD), such as reading and writing obstacles

  • Development Disorder (DD)

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Other children with special needs

  • Teachers and related support systems for children and adolescents with special needs
