The Salvation Army crèches and nursery schools (collectively named as “schools”) accept public application for admission. The admission criteria are as follows:
- Parents agree to the mission and values of education of The Salvation Army
- Parents are willing to actively participate in family-school activities
- Children reach the eligible age to enroll
- Performance of children in interview (not applicable to crèche applicants)
- Connections between parents and the schools
- Family with social needs referred by Social Worker (if applicable)
Fees
- School Fee: 12 installments/ year
- Auxiliary Fee: 2 installments/ year
- Schools will adjust school fees and meal charges according to developmental needs and life I index. Amount of school fees and meal charges for the new school year will be announced in August after obtaining approval from Education Bureau
- School fee remission application from government can be made through the school and Certificate of Eligibility under The Pre-primary Education Voucher Scheme (PEVS) or Registration Certificate for Kindergarten Admission (RC) are applicable in all the nursery schools (for 3-6 years old children)
- According to Education Bureau Circular 87/2018, for withdrawal made after admission offered, registration fee paid will not be refunded
Application
There will be no limit for the number of forms distributed.
- Application form can be obtained in person from individual school every Thursday, 2:00pm to 4:00pm; or downloadable from the link (Please unzip downloaded file to obtain Application Form)
- Filled application form with a copy of the birth certificate should be submitted to the school.
Application Submission
- Application information should be submitted in person to the school every Thursday, 2:00-4:00pm or by postage
- Fax or e-mail application will not be accepted.
- Application fee: $20
Admission Procedures
Application Received
- Waitlist numbers sent to parents and children applicants (collectively named as “applicants”)
- Interview notices will be mailed to applicants starting from October
- Interviews with the applicants according to the situation of vacancies of different grades in the school year and the sequence of waitlist number, i.e. interviews might not be arranged to all the waitlisted applicants.
- Applicants who have not been arranged the interviews will remain on the waiting list. Letters will be mailed to those waitlisted applicants who must reply the schools before due date in order to remain on the waiting list every year or the applications will be dismissed.
Interview
- Interviews will be arranged around November
- Meeting with parents individually or in groups and observe children’s behavior when playing
Notification of Application Result
- Result will be mailed to applicants before the end of December; or
- Parents will be notified the application result one month after the interview
Registration
- Upon receipt of notification of admission to K1, parents must complete the registration procedures in person at the school during the Centralized Registration Dates (i.e. 7 to 9 January 2021) by submitting the “2021/22 Registration Certificate” and pay $1,570 for “registration fee”. (Receipt of “Registration Certificate for Kindergarten Admission” will be issued to the parent immediately by the school when the school receives the certificate).
- Registration fee ($1,570) for nursery class normally should be paid according to the notice from school.
- Registration fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
- Purchase of school uniforms, school bags, books and stationery, etc. in June
- 1st installment of school fee (after deduction of registration fee) should be paid one month before school year begins (Registration fee $1,570 will be returned by cheque).
- After the Centralized Registration Dates, school may fill the vacancies by admitting children on the waiting list.
